ALEX MCFARLAND is an evangelist, author, and advocate for Christian apologetics. Cohost of Exploring the Word with Bert Harper (heard nationally on the American Family Radio Network), Alex is the founder of America's longest-running series of apologetic conferences, Truth for a New Generation. He has served as president of Southern Evangelical Seminary and director of Teen Apologetics for Focus on the Family under James Dobson. In addition to his work with the American Family Association, Alex directs Biblical Worldview for Charis Bible College. He has served as an adjunct professor at several Christian universities, assisting with the creation of programs and departments dedicated to apologetics and the defense of the Christian worldview. Alex is the author of many books, including the best-selling 10 Most Common Objections to Christianity. He is a graduate of the Liberty University Graduate School of Religion. Alex and his wife, Angela, live in North Carolina.
BERT HARPER is the director of Marriage, Family, and Pastoral Ministries at the American Family Association. He has served as cohost of Exploring the Word with Alex McFarland for more than a decade and is heard on an average of two hundred stations nationwide each weekday afternoon. Bert Harper has nearly four decades of experience in the role of senior pastor, faithfully preaching God's Word, leading biblically and by example, and impacting countless lives for the gospel. He and his wife, Jan, have invested themselves in counseling couples and mentoring and helping families in full-time Christian ministry. Bert Harper has faithfully served on the board of the American Family Association and Blue Mountain College and in many other leadership roles on behalf of churches and Christian organizations. Together, he and Jan lead Fishbowl-an annual retreat for ministers and their wives. The Harpers have three grown sons and are the proud grandparents of a growing family.
