Zusammenfassung

This book provides a comprehensive and holistic overview of the evolving field of phytopharmaceuticals, bridging ancient practices with modern technological advancements. It begins by exploring current trends and the evolution of phytomedicine across continents, with a focus on screening, extraction, purification, identification, standardization, and quality control of phytopharmaceuticals. It highlights cutting-edge techniques, like high-throughput screening, omics integration, and the application of artificial intelligence in phytomedicine research. The book presents the biomechanics of phytocompounds as antipathogenic agents, their therapeutic applications, and innovative strategies for delivering phytochemical compounds, including nanostructured systems. Furthermore, the book assesses the impact of herb-drug interactions on bioactivity and safety, biopharmaceutical challenges, and safety and toxicology considerations crucial for the use of phytomedicines. It reviews phytopharmaceutical regulations and public perceptions and includes case studies of marketed phytomedicines. The book presents case studies on marketed phytomedicines, providing real-world insights into the successful application and commercialization of phytopharmaceuticals. This book is an essential resource for researchers, clinicians, and professionals in the fields of herbal medicine, pharmacology, and ethnopharmacology.
