Zusammenfassung

Lieutenant Commander Andre Duroz gave everything to the Frontier Alliance ? his youth, his loyalty, his blood. Then the military he served committed an act so monstrous it silenced a decade of war in a single moment, and left Andre with nothing to believe in.

Now he hauls wreckage on a Reclamation Detail, cleaning up the carnage his side helped create. It's a self-imposed penance. It's punishment. It's the only thing he has left.

But the Settled Systems don't give broken men time to grieve. When Andre stumbles into a black market conspiracy buried deep in the ruins of war, he becomes the wrong person in the wrong place ? and suddenly finds himself in the crosshairs of a Sovereign special agent who offers him an impossible choice: cooperate with the enemy he once swore to destroy and bring justice to the Settled Systems, or disappear into a prison facility on the outer rim and take his conscience with him.

What does it mean when everything you held sacred turns to ash? When the line between justice and survival blurs beyond recognition? And when the enemy reaches out a hand ? do you take it?

Go back to where it all began. See what it truly means to be a Tracer.

David E Graham is a Silver Falchion Award Finalist for Science Fiction (Killer Nashville 2026), a Literary Titan Gold Award recipient, and a member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA). An award-winning author of science fiction and fantasy, he is drawn to the boundless potential of speculative worlds.

In his novels, David delves into the profound costs of war and the immense weight of leadership and command. His stories are a reflection of his belief that even in the most fantastical settings, real-world issues of corruption and greed can shape not only our everyday lives but also the political landscapes we inhabit. Residing in Tennessee with his wife, Lisa, David weaves tales that are both escapist and thought-provoking, inviting readers to consider the timeless struggles of humanity through a fresh lens.
