A vanished payphone. A trail of dropped quarters leading into the dark. A kitchen blender taped to an antenna passed off as advanced tracking gear. Just another Wednesday.
Boris, a badger running a 24-hour convenience store, wakes up to find the heavy cast-iron payphone outside his shop missing. All that remains is a severed wire and an empty patch of concrete.
Enter Womba and Cappy. Womba?a wombat detective who takes himself far too seriously?immediately suspects a rogue telecommunications syndicate harvesting copper to build a time machine. Cappy?a capybara who would much rather finish her peppermint tea?simply points out the bolts were undone with a standard wrench.
Armed with a dubious surveillance contraption bought from a cynical local mechanic, the duo sets off down alleyways and into municipal basements. Between Womba's wild theories and Cappy's deadpan observation, they attempt to uncover what actually happened to the phone.
If you like dry humor, deadpan detectives, and absurd mysteries where the explanation is far more mundane than a cosmic conspiracy, this short read exists in the geometry.
