Winner of the prestigious Kamov Literary Prize from the Croatian Writers' Association
In this unique novel, the author weaves a tale that straddles history and myth, guided by three unexpected characters: a runaway slave from ancient Greece, his Egyptian cat companion, and the immortal spirit of the wind, which observes the destinies of humankind throughout the ages.
The boy escapes the cruelty of slavery, taking his cat, Mew, with him, and arrives on an island off the Adriatic coast where he discovers a new meaning of freedom and humanity. Throughout the journey, the spirit of the wind remains a witness to what humans do to the world around them: how they build their civilizations and how they repeat their mistakes throughout history.
With a poetic vision and rich language, the author blends historical narrative with philosophy, giving us a novel about freedom, about the relationship between humanity, nature, and animals, and about that invisible thread that connects the past to the present.
