H. David Stone is the author of Vital Rails: The Charleston & Savannah Railroad and the Civil War in Coastal South Carolina. A lifelong golfer with a passion for history, Dr. Stone writes feature articles on golf's storied past, is a board member of South Carolina Humanities, and holds memberships in the Carolinas Golf Association, the United States Golf Association, and the South Carolina Historical Society. He resides in Florence, South Carolina.
